Un saxophone, une guitare, une contrebasse et une voix ; la formation n’est pas ordinaire, et moins encore le répertoire, exclusivement féminin car puisé auprès des grandes dames du jazz, pour rendre ce qui est d’abord un hommage appuyé aux femmes : le ton est donné pour cette entrée en matière du festival 2022, bien à l’image de Parfum de Jazz, l’International Jazz Ladies Festival ! C’est ainsi Abbey Lincoln, Cassandra Wilson ou Carla Bley que revisite Gaby Schenke, avec le beau son de son saxophone, sa science des standards et ce quartet tout d’équilibre entre les voix, pour une promenade de quelque trente pas dans le crépuscule de Saint-Ferréol…
A saxophone, a guitar, a double bass and a voice : the setting is out of the ordinary and so is the choice of songs, picked from the grandes dames of jazz to pay homage, above all, to women. The tone is set for this first evening of the 2022 festival, faithful to the spirit of Parfum de Jazz, the International Jazz Ladies Festival !
